Candle holder Seiffen village, 13 cm by Thomas Preißler from Seiffen in the Erzgebirge

The world-famous toy village of Seiffen with its mountain church adorns many an article of Erzgebirge folk art, as it is the symbol of Christmas in every respect. So it is not surprising, that the many artisans in the region repeatedly use the village as a motif for Christmas decorations.

Beautiful candle holder with a classic motif

The church in this small village was modeled on the Frauenkirche in Dresden. The octagonal design with its little tower never fails to delight visitors. And anyone who has the time and inclination, should attend a church service, especially at Christmas time. There you can also meet the Kurrende children, who are involved in organizing the devotions with singing. The old traditions say, that the Kurrende also go through the village and to people's homes on the Advent weekends and perform Christmas carols. Today, this tradition is still practiced, whereby especially elderly or sick people are visited, who cannot attend the Christmas mass.

Candle holders as popular souvenirs of the toy village

Thomas Preißler has captured this scenery on a candle holder. The Seiffen church is arranged on the base on the left. Three carol singers with hymn books stand in the middle. A figure carries the Star of Bethlehem and a lantern. A small Erzgebirge cottage and a chip tree complete the overall picture. Of course, a candle holder also needs a candle holder, in which a pyramid candle can burn safely. The ensemble is stained in a natural color and the different shades of brown provide a pleasant contrast. The candle holder is approx 15 cm long and approx 13 cm high.
