Anyone who has ever been to the opening of the Seiffen Christmas market or the big mountain parade on 3.Advent in the toy village, knows the Kurrende. They walk as part of the "Living Toys" in the parades through the Christmas-decorated village. They are mostly children from Seiffen, who are equipped with the typical coats with white collars and their hymn books, the illuminated Star of Bethlehem and lanterns. During Advent-and Christmas, they play a very special role. They help shape the church services, by getting people in the mood for Christmas with their singing.

Kurrende of the toy village in miniature form

This tradition is reflected in Erzgebirge folk art. In many family businesses, the Kurrende children can be found on pyramids, candle arches or music boxes. But they also form a charming ensemble in connection with the village of Seiffen. The little singers often go through the village on Advent Sundays and bring Christmas carols into the homes of older people in particular. This has become a beloved tradition in the toy village.

Seiffen landmark popular motif

Thomas Preißler from Seiffen has made this beautiful set. It shows the Seiffen mountain church in its typical form. Two small miners' cottages line the church and two filigree chip trees can be arranged to match. Five carol singers parade through the village. Four of them have opened their hymnal, to sing the words of the Christmas carols with confidence. A child carries the Star of Bethlehem and a lantern, to show them the way. The figures are approx. 5 cm tall, the church has a size of approx. 10 cm. All 10 parts are made of natural wood and stained in different colors.
